James Briggs Ltd has been named as Oldham’s Business of the Year after a record year of growth.
Hosted by BBC impressionist Jon Culshaw, The One Oldham Business Awards were held at the town’s Queen Elizabeth Hall on Friday 15th May, with James Briggs taking the night’s headline prize for Oldham’s largest businesses boasting turnover of more than £5m.
The award comes on the back of 18 months of significant growth for the business, which saw it achieve turnover of £50m for the first time. The last 12 months have also seen the company move into new corporate headquarters on Broadway Business Park, as well as significantly upgrade its manufacturing facilities with over £300,000 of investment.
Commenting on the award, James Briggs CEO Tim Pugh, said: “Throughout its history, James Briggs has always been committed to promoting and supporting Oldham and the surrounding area. We have been operating here for almost 200 years, and we’re extremely proud of the successes we have achieved together.
“Since James Briggs’ management buyout in 2013, the business has gone from strength to strength and we’re pleased to see that growth being recognised both locally and further afield.”
